一、要了解重点中学考试的形式
就多数重点中学的考试而言，基本上分两种形式：标准化考试和非标准化考试。
(一)标准化考试

第一，听力部分。包括单词、单句理解、情景反应、对话理解和短文理解四部分，全面考查学生语言运用能力。
(1) 听辩单词：旨在考查学生语音辨别、判断的能力及瞬间的听觉反应能力，选项之间有一定的干扰性。
(2) 单句理解：主要考查学生对同一意义进行多种表达的能力及理解、判断话语所表达的主要信息的能力。
(3) 情景反应：旨在考查学生交流能力和语言运用能力。
(4)短文理解：一般要求能听懂故事中对人和事的描写，情节发展及结果，能识别对话中的重要信息并进行简单推断。

第三，补全对话。以对话形式出现，重点测试考生在实际生活中运用英语进行会话的能力。讲究语言的灵活性和强调运用语言的能力。此种题型要求考生根据一定的语境，联系上、下文或整段对话填上 所缺句子。要做好这类题考生必须熟练掌握一定数量的口语句型，如“约会”“看病”“问路”“郊游”“购物”“借东西”“打电话”等。
第四，阅读理解。旨在考查学生通过阅读捕捉信息、搜集信息、分析对比信息的能力。一般要求考生快速阅读原文，然后根据文章内容，选择所给选项中符合原文意思的正确答案。要作好阅读理解题，考生除具备一定的阅读能力外，还必须具备扎实的语言基本功，掌握英美人的语言表达习惯、生活习俗、文化背景知识，应排除母语对学习的负迁移，方能正确理解大意，提高应试水平。以上是对于部分的标准化试题的基本考点的分析。
(二)非标准化考试
请注意，很多一流的中学的都是采取这种形式!此种考试的形式就比较多样化， 复杂些。如有的学校只考听力与阅读，有的口试与笔试并重，有的学校则只考察写作和阅读;有的是先看一段影像资料后进行答卷，有的是阅读一段并不完整的文章后进行补写文章并回答一些具体问题; 有的甚至还考察英语的奥数题。
二、如何科学有效的搞好小升初考前复习
针对考试的形式多样化和重要性，我们建议应从以下几个方面着手准备：
1、自我诊断
根据以上分析，针对考察点对自己的英语学习做一个全面的自我检查和诊断， 在听力、语音、词汇、阅读和写作或语法知识专项等方面哪些是自己的强项或是较弱的。如果是较强，则要做到精益求精，保证在考试中绝不丢分。如果是比较薄弱的方面则要加强练习，做重点复习。
2、制定复习计划
不打无准备的仗。复习计划包括长期和短期两种。长期计划是指制定目前到明年4、5月份 这几个月的总体复习目标，对英语学科基础知识进行分块，分时期复习做出全面的安排。短期计划以一周为宜，以每天的学习内容、目的和保障措施为主。计划要全面，并要有针对性，特别是针对自己的薄弱环节。
