NO.7 The One With the Blackout
1.Rachel: Wow, this is so cool, you guys. The entire city is blacked out! 关于black还有一些词组需要掌握,black and white:白纸黑字,类似的还有混淆是非(call/make black white);bule and white青一块紫一块;black book/list 黑名单等等。
2.Monica: (into phone) Pants and a sweater? Why, mom? Who am I gonna meet in a blackout? Power company guys? Eligible looters? Could we talk about this later? OK. Are you eligible to wirte the book about Friends?
3.Monica: OK, I'll go. OK, senior year of college... on a pool table.常常在英语角碰到人介绍自己时候说是Grade one or two之类的,其实大学几年级有更地道的说法,freshman->一年级,sophomore->二年级,junior->三年级,senior->大四,研究生是postgraduate,博士生是phd,还有人往往介绍自己直博了,个人认为如下说法比较合适:be nominated to be a phd candidate directly,在有些学校介绍硕博连读的网页上,还有如下表述direct-promotion program for PHD diploma.. .
4.Ross: Probably. But you know, I'll tell you something. Passion is way overrated. He's been known to fly into a passion without warning.
5.Ross: I'm taking my time, alright? I'm laying the groundwork. Yeah. I mean, every day I get just a little bit closer to...
Joey: Priesthood! Look Ross, I'm telling you, she has no idea what you're thinking. If you don't ask her out soon you're going to end up stuck in the zone forever.
6.Phoebe: (smiling) You betcha! Betcha=bet you=you bet,
7.Jill: My God, you're choking! (she runs over and gives him the Heimlich, the gum flies from his mouth) That better?
8.Rachel: God, the first time he smiled at me... those three seconds were more exciting than three weeks in Bermuda with Barry.
9.Ross: That's funny, because you know, you are a huge crapweasel!
10.Ross: OK, guys, guys? I have the definitive one. Mwwwooooo-hah-hah...(The lights come back on, and Rachel and Paolo are making out. Ross clutches his chest.)
Si = yes
1. personal ad
2. testosteroney
3.if I'm hogging the ball too much you just jump right in there and take a couple punches because I'm telling you, this feels great.
2.You don't stop for chunky.
3. used to have those bumper stick
Bumper sticker (rom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. )
A bumper sticker is a message attached to the bumper of vehicle to get attention of others. They can be political or humorous, may or promote a or attack a particular stand on any issue.
Examples:
(USA) Clinton Gore 96 [democratic party bumper sticker]
(USA) Clinton Gone 96 [republican party bumper sticker] hoho
1.Joey: Well, it's like, last night, I couldn't do the thing that usually makes me great. So I had to do all this other stuff. And the response I got... man, oh man, it was like a ticker tape parade!
Chandler: Yes, I know, as it happens my room is very very close to the parade route.
A ticker-tape parade is a parade event, held in a downtown urban setting, allowing the jettison of large amounts of shredded paper products from nearby buildings onto the parade route, creating a triumphal effect by the snowstorm like flurry.
The term originated in New York City and is still most closely associated with it. The term ticker-tape refered originally to the use of the paper output of ticker tape machines, which were remotely-driven devices used in brokerages to provide updated Stock Market quotes. Nowadays, the paper product are largely waste office paper that has been cut using conventional shredders.
In New York City, ticker-tape parades are not annual events but are reserved for special occassions. The first such parade was in October 1886 and was a spontaneous event following the dedication of the Statue of Liberty. Soon afterwards, city officials realized the utility of such events and began to hold them on triumphal occassions, at first only for extraordinary events, such as the return of Theodore Roosevelt from his safari in Africa.
Up through the 1950s, the were commonly given to any visiting head of state, but the 1960s, following the assassination of John F. Kennedy, they became increasingly rare are generally reserved now for space exploration triumphs, military honors and sports championships. The section of lower Broadway through the Financial District that serves as the parade route for these events is colloquially called the Canyon of Heros.
2.hammerhead

NO.6 The One With the Butt
1.Chandler: You can always spot someone who's never seen one of his plays before. Notice, no fear, no sense of impending doom... Freud! (The exclamation point in the title scares me. (Gesturing) Y'know, it's not just Freud, it's Freud!)
2. Monica: Did anybody else feel they just wanted to peel the skin off their body, to have something else to do?
3.Chandler: So explain something to me here, uh, what kind of a relationship do you imagine us having if you already have a husband and a boyfriend?
4.Rachel: Look! I cleaned! I did the windows, I did the floors... I even used all the attachments on the vacuum, except that little round one with the bristles, I don't know what that's for. Attachment means “A supplementary part; an accessory”,附属物、附件、附属装置。
5. Chandler: Thank God you didn't try to fan out the magazines. I mean, she'll scratch your eyes right out.。 Chandler不失时机的又火上浇油,说还好Rach没把杂志也给弄乱了,否则眼珠子都会被Monica挖出来(scratch your eyes right out)。
6. Chandler: Someone's left a glass on the coffee table. There's no coaster. It's a cold drink, it's a hot day. Little beads of condensation are inching their way closer and closer to the surface of the wood... (A disk, plate, or small mat placed under a bottle, pitcher, or drinking glass to protect a table top or other surface beneath)。
7. Rachel: Ooh, do I sense a little bit of resentment?Chandler: No, no resentment, believe me, it's worth it. 'Kay? Y'know in a relationship you have these key moments that you know you'll remember for the rest of your life? Well, every- single- second is like that with Aurora.. and I've just wasted about thirty-five of them talking to you people, so, uh.. Monica, can you help me with the door? (He has armloads of stuff.)
“sense a little bit of resentment”这个用法比较地道,“我怎么感觉到了一点儿怨恨的味道?”,Chandler马上反驳说没有,他接下来的一段话可以转换形式记下来,“In a relationship,we have some key moments that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.”
8. Director: I think his butt would like to get this shot before lunch. Once again, rolling... water working... and action....and cut. What was that? shot子弹、炮弹、开枪、射击,这里则是机会的意思。
9. Chandler: I know there'll be many moments in the years to come when I'll regret asking the following question, but- And Andrew is?
10. Chandler: ...Well, y'know, part of me wants that, but it's like I'm two guys, y'know? I mean, one guy's going 'Shut up! This is great!' But there's this other guy. Actually it's the same guy that wells up every time that Grinch's heart grows three sizes and breaks that measuring device... And he's saying, y'know, 'This is too hard! Get out! Get out!' Well up涌出、涌现、涌起。
11.Rachel: Really? Just casually strewn about in that reckless haphazard manner? Strewn about中,strewn是strew的过去式,about相当于around。
1.that would work The word “work” acts as an intransitive verb here, usually used in the oral language with the similar meaning to “effect, take effect”.
3.back me up here=support me。
