因此，宽容是一种理解和体谅人的做法。北京奥运会刘翔的“意外”退赛，这是多么的出人意料。或许，他的意外退赛，曾让多少的中国人失望和埋怨，无可质疑，奥运会他的“惊人一跨”让每个中国人都为之动容，为之自豪。如今，他在北京奥运会却……但是相信指责埋怨并不是中国人的本色。在悠悠的五千年的历史长河中，理解和宽容并没有随着时间的流逝而黯然失色。面对刘翔的“意外退赛”，中国人更多地选择了理解和宽容，正因为如此，我们有足够的理由相信刘翔会在他的人生道路中走得更好，更远！

海纳百川，有容乃大，意思是说那大海之所以如此浩瀚辽阔，是因为它能够容纳百川。无论是延绵几千里的大江大河，还是涓涓细流，它都包容着，成就了它的伟大和不可征服，但有人说，世界上最宽阔的，不是海洋，而是人的胸怀。那么，人的广阔胸怀又是怎样的包容呢？

包容是一种大义。古时候一个皇帝在庆功宴上包容这一位将军对自己妃子的无礼，将军感恩戴德，而这位深明大义的皇帝就是由这位将军救出性命的。注重人与人之间的情义，对一些无关痛痒的问题，予以包容。这是对情义最好的诠释。

包容是一种智慧。假若一个人不懂得包容，不能得到什么，反而会失去属于自己的那一份快乐。著名节目主持人吴小莉在一次节目上说：“包容可以带给我们快乐。世界上只有两种人会包容，一种是傻子，因为他们不会包容；一种是有智慧的人，因为他们不会因为任何事而浪费自己的快乐，他们会宽容。希望所有人都会用智慧去包容。”包容不是一种智慧吗？

包容是一种耐力。古代日本有一位名僧叫白隐。有一天，住在寺旁的卖菜夫妇抱着一个婴儿来骂白隐。原来，他们的女儿不知怎的怀孕了，父母问她孩子父亲是谁，女孩子吞吞吐吐说出了“白隐”两字。女孩的父母于是抱这个婴儿给了白隐。白隐知道后，只说了：“就是这样吗？”从此，寺里香火灭绝，而白隐，每天用米磨碎去喂那个婴儿，直到十年后，那个女孩终于说出了真相，孩子的父亲是邻村的一个卖布的。而当他们带回已十岁的孩子时，白隐只说了：“就是这样吗？”从此，寺里的香火比以前更旺盛。白隐禅师十年的忍辱负重，包容着人们对他所做的一切。他的包容是一种耐力，一种超凡脱俗的耐力。

有智慧的人把包容比作大海，一滴墨水滴下，仍然清澈如故。这里有着情义，理解和善良。而愚蠢的人把包容比作一杯水，一滴墨水，就会使它混浊。因为它不懂如何包容。或许，包容只是一种做法，就是不要用别人的错误去惩罚自己，快乐地看着“云舒云卷，花开花落”。
